G̈îfî-fësê Bî (/ˌkètɘˈkèvɪ/ /ˈfësɘ/ [expensive] [knight]) is a subtropical Town located in the Bèmîgêthaki Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name G̈îfî-fësê Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as G̈îfî-fësê Bî was founded by Moctilê Tshèqtê, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 21°C (69°F). G̈îfî-fësê Bî receives an average of 266 cm/y (104 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. G̈îfî-fësê Bî covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3726 m (12224 ft) above sea level.

Overview

G̈îfî-fësê Bî was founded durring the early 16th century in summer of the year 1540, by Moctilê Tshèqtê. The establishment of G̈îfî-fësê Bî suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and G̈îfî-fësê Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî is buildings folow an organic layout of broad paverstone streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town is protected by a series of wooden fences ringing the town's parimiter, which are likly intended to keep varrious beasts out of town rather than protect it from attack by any intelegent agents. G̈îfî-fësê Bî's bare minimum defences are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled G̈îfî-fësê Bî ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. On top of this is an unmistakable feeling that G̈îfî-fësê Bî is in this condition because there is something terribly wrong with the town. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine which makes you worry someone might stab you in a dark ally for your boots. It’s not filthy, or dark, but the smiles seem strained, the locals seem to glare daggers in eachothers backs a little too much, and everyone is armed at all times. You may want to keep an eye on your valuables, and make sure you don’t wind up in any position of power. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in G̈îfî-fësê Bî long.

Civic Infrastructure

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within G̈îfî-fësê Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for G̈îfî-fësê Bî's parks.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within G̈îfî-fësê Bî.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain G̈îfî-fësê Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. G̈îfî-fësê Bî's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. In spite of the Galvanic Grid, these lights continue to use their old fule sources to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for G̈îfî-fësê Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

G̈îfî-fësê Bî's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by their massive, monolithic and 'blocky' appearance with a rigid geometric style. It was best known for its rough, unfinished surfaces, unusual shapes, heavy-looking materials, straight lines, and small windows. Modular elements were often used to form masses representing specific functional zones, grouped into a unified whole.

In G̈îfî-fësê Bî rainbows form quite often above the Town.

The Raven near G̈îfî-fësê Bî are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

G̈îfî-fësê Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves orgies to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 2 via speaking in tongues.

History

G̈îfî-fësê Bî is in secret rebellion against their ostensible liege, having cut deals with his enemies, plotted to betray him for their own gain, or bridled under his tyranny and sought a better lord. The community’s leadership is all in on this plot, and outside viceroys or representatives are being kept carefully ignorant of the reality. The common folk may be oblivious to the truth, though they’ll doubtless have felt the same motivations and promptings that convinced their leaders to turn traitor.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Mere Rila began to boil, and released a thick toxic cloud from beneath its waters which brought great calamity to the entire nation, killing every person and animal in its path which could not escape the cloud. Oddly, the plants of the region flourished in the years after the disaster. The disaster brought an end to people, livestock, and buildings. The disaster is referred to as the Loss Wind.

History
